Announcing the 2026 CAPA Competition Team auditions for our JTF team and AYTE team!

This will be one round of auditions to fill spots on both teams. Please read all the details carefully before auditioning.

Mandatory Parent and Student Meeting: Saturday, May 3rd at 10 AM at the JSU McClellan Theatre. Any student wishing to audition must attend with a parent.

Auditions:

Sunday, May 18th at 2 PM or Monday, May 19th at 4:30 PM. Students should pick one date to attend.

What to prepare:
32 bars of a musical theatre song
30-second monologue
A dance call will take place during the audition

Ages: 9-18 (must still be in high school)

Audition Fees:
$30 JTF team audition fee
$20 AYTE team audition fee
$50 fee for both teams

List of conflicts for September 2025-February 2026

Show announcements are TBD. Show casts will be determined at callbacks at a later date.

AYTE Session:
Competition dates: February 6-7, 2026
Rehearsals: Sundays 2-5 PM September 2025-November 2025, then resuming mid-January 2026 through competition.
Public shows: Weekend of January 31-February 1

JTF Session:
Competition dates: January 16-19, 2026
Rehearsals: Sundays 2-5 PM December 2025-mid January 2026

About the Competitions:
JTF (Junior Theater Festival): The Junior Theater Festival is the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater. JTF brings together student musical theater troupes from all over the world for a weekend of musical theater mayhem and madness.
AYTE (Alabama Youth Theatre Experience): A place where young Alabama Thespians can learn, connect, and challenge themselves and each other.

This is an incredible opportunity to perform, compete, and grow as a musical theater artist. Be sure to read all requirements and come prepared. We can't wait to see you shine!
